Profile: Peter Beck has an academic and professional Telematics and Health Informatics background. He graduated in 2000 from Graz University of Technology. His thesis “Development of a Secure Web-Based Client-Server-Application for Diabetes Management” was the foundation for the quality management application www.healthgate.at "Benchmarking and Reporting Service", which was a finalist in the eEurope Awards for eHealth 2003.
Since 2001 he is working with JOANNEUM RESEARCH, a non-profit technology centre in Austria. At present, Peter Beck is head of the health management and health informatics research focus at the Institute of Medical Technologies and Health Management.

In close cooperation with local health authorities JOANNEUM RESEARCH works on the improvement of administrative and clinical processes in medical care, patient-orientation, facilitated by eHealth and optimised data management and accompanied by project evaluations and cost analyses.

Project experience:
- Concept creation for a Disease Management Programme, Diabetes mellitus Type 2 in Austria
- Design and implementation of an IT infrastructure for Disease Management in Austria
- Quality management reporting for physicians in several chronic diseases
- Health Services Planning for the province of Styria (population 1.2 Mio.)
